ROXY closing party

Below is a 15-second clip that I took at about 7:15am Sunday shortly before I left. The place was still packed.

And here is a clip that I found on YouTube that does a better job of being able to see how many people were there. All in all, about 4000 walked through the doors during the 14-hour ROXY closing party.

The Last Dance @ ROXY

After 16 years of hosting gay nightlife, the ROXY had a spectacular closing event on Saturday, March 10 that lasted until noon on Sunday. The night opened with DJ James Anderson and was anchored by Offer Nissim and Peter Rauhofer, all of whom have had spectacular runs at the ROXY in the past. Final estimates place the number of patrons that came through between 10pm Saturday and noon Sunday at 4000. It was simply spectacular.

While I don't have a close bond or connection with the ROXY, many people do and I can understand why. The ROXY had this energy that I have not felt at another other club, in NYC or anywhere. Going to the ROXY was always a happy time for me... I was out with friends, I was dancing, I was enjoying life and not worried about anything else; the energy of the club washed everything else away. It will be interesting to see if any other place will be able to have the same effect on me as this place.

Stephen, Kris, Brian W and myself made it over to 18th Street around 10pm and the line to get in already stretched around the block onto the West Side Highway. Stephen and Brian hit the gold card line and Kris and I waited with the common folk for the next hour and 45 minutes, watching the boys stream by to get in line behind us. Pete joined Kris and I just as it started to drizzle, but we made it inside before the downpour.

So, $130 later, we finally make it inside... the place is PACKED! Pushing room only. We found Brian and Stephen and made our way to the dance floor. The energy was simply amazing, so much so that it can't even be described.

There aren't many details beyond dancing, hot sweaty shirtless men, and dancing. LOL! I'm definitely glad that I was able to experience such an amazing and legendary event with my closest friends and my entire gay "family."

Undies Drawer

I just found this site completely by accident and I already love it.
http://www.undiesdrawer.com

As you may or may not know, I love underwear. I love finding the unique cuts and designs and, quite frankly, I think I look good in only a pair of underwear. LOL! I recently got two pairs of Andrew Christian briefs that are very very sexy. And well, so are the boys on the web site and postcards. In fact, they were so cute that when I opened the package at work I immediately shared them with a coworker who decided he too, must order a few. And in that whole process I learned a lot about why he needs to have a medium instead of a small even though he's got a small waist. hahaha!

I can probably go an entire month without doing laundry thanks to the number of pairs of underwear I have. And I'm always accumulating more. Its not really a fetish as much as I just like variety, cool designs, and fun undies.

Anyway, enough about that. Go check out the blog and buy yourself a new pair of underwear.

Auctions and birthdays

Last night I attended an art benefit at Christie's, the famed auction house in New York with my friend Jim. Jim and I actually met in Miami at Vizcaya during the White Party. Jim is actually from New Orleans; the art benefit was doing a silent auction and regular auction of art from NOLA artists to support rebuilding the city.

It was my first time at Christie's and my first time at such a fancy event in New York. Though I refused to wear a suit or tuxedo (tux would have been overkill) I did manage to arrange an ensemble that had a high-collared dark brown zip up under my tan blazer. I'm sure there is a picture of me wearing the same thing somewhere on this blog. I really like the look. Its not too dressy, but not too casual and it allows me to get through the evening without having to be in an uncomfortable suit and tie. Frankly, I think I pull it off quite well.

But anyway, I was grateful to Jim for inviting me to such an exciting and exclusive event. I met a few people there and exchanged emails, so hopefully I'll be on someone's list to attend more events like this one. I also met Jim's friend Kirk, an adorable boy in his late 20's who is too cute and charming for his own good and lives here in NY. Hopefully, I'll get to see more of him.

I had to leave the Christie's event a little early to head over to Brian C's birthday party at GSTAAD, a cute bar/lounge on 26th and 6th. Brian had grabbed the back room for all of his friends... and he has a lot of them. I used the opportunity to network and try to get people to apply to a job at my company so I can get that referral bonus. LOL! And I even met a woman who knows someone I work with; I'll be attending a charity event of hers in April.

Not having gone out to really drink hard, I seem to get hammered really fast. I had two glasses of Prosecco and I was already being overly friendly. John and Nick (my ex) joined us later in the evening and poor John had to deal with me hugging and wrapping my arms around him for awhile. I didn't even realize it until Ken pointed it out at our 2am brunch at Venus Diner. Oops! Hope he didn't mind. LOL!

So, yeah... brunch at about 2am with me, Ken, and Brian W (who was also TRASHED) and then off to grab a cab to get my ass home. And now, I've got to clean the apartment. Nick and John are coming out to Brooklyn for dinner and to see my place. It will be the ex's first time seeing my place in NY. It'll probably be a bit awkward for me, it always is. But, I am looking forward to it.

Help me earn $5000

So, my company just unveiled our new recruiting bonus program for the next two weeks that is in effect for the New York office only. For every person that I refer, is hired, and is with the company for 90 days I will receive a $5000 referral bonus. That is up from the $2000 standard AND the $3000 special NYC office bonus.

Now, y'all need to help me out. I'm planning a trip to Australia for Gay Mardi Gras next February and even just one person can help me get there. After taxes, one referral bonus poretty much pays for the entire trip. Throw it into savings while I'm waiting to make the actual reservations and I'll have some money to use for play money when I'm down there.

If you want to work for a really cool, high profile, interactive marketing agency in New York, NY where the client roster includes some of the biggest names in the corporate world today and you have skills in marketing, project management, or web/application development, SEND ME YOUR RESUME and I can give you more details.

If you get hired and I get a bonus out of it, I'll take you to a nice dinner... and not at some Chelsea eatery either. I'm thinking the likes of STK or Morimoto or Babbo.
